New Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program Coming to Virginia
VAPD is proud to celebrate an exciting milestone for pediatric dentistry in Virginia. The Carilion Clinic Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program in Roanoke received initial accreditation from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) last fall, marking an important step forward for pediatric dental education and access to care in our Commonwealth.
Led by Dr. Karina Miller and the Carilion pediatric dentistry team and made possible through the support and collaboration of the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation and community partners, this new program reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Virginia’s pediatric dental workforce and expanding access to high-quality oral health care for children and families.
The program will begin interviewing applicants this fall, with its inaugural class expected to begin in July 2027
VAPD is incredibly proud to celebrate this achievement and the many individuals and partners who helped make it possible. We look forward to welcoming and supporting the next generation of pediatric dentists as they begin their training and become part of Virginia’s pediatric dental community.
